About Rago Arts and Auction Center

Toll Free Phone: (866)-724-6278 The Rago Arts and Auction Center is a leading U.S. auction house with an international clientele. With sales of close to $30 million annually, Rago’s outdistances all other New Jersey auction houses in size and scope. Our auction house yields a heavy and very active hammer, consistently matching international auction houses in its fields of concentration, but with a difference in attitude. “They continue to be an important force,” says New York-based interior designer Steven Sclaroff, “but on a friendlier scale, and with a personal level of service that is really welcoming.” One of the top three U.S. houses in the sale of 20th C. design, Rago’s also sells post-war and contemporary art; 19th c. furnishings; decorative and fine arts; fine estate jewelry and silver; Asian arts; coins and currency; ethnographic property and more. Auction valuations are free, whether for a single piece, a collection or an estate. Auctions are held monthly from September through June. Most of the property we sell ranges in price from $2,000 - $50,000, with top lots exceeding half a million dollars. Alternatively, when sellers need a quick and complete transaction, Rago’s has the means to buy individual items and complete estates. Rago’s also has an appraisal division that handles valuations for insurance, charitable donation, taxation, equitable distribution and sale. Founding partners David Rago and Suzanne Perrault can be seen as featured appraisers on the PBS series Antiques Roadshow, as can Sarah Churgin, who heads Rago’s jewelry and silver department, and Meredith Hilferty, who heads Rago’s art department. All specialists appear at major shows and conferences across the country. “This is a home for buyers and sellers who seek excellence without attitude,” says David Rago. “We know how to bring property to market and how to bring the market to the property. We achieve prices on par – and often above – the best-known auction houses for first tier work and draw attention to client’s good pieces by selling them with the best. We handle fine property not just with proficiency, but with genuine enthusiasm. It’s why we attract the quality of property we do. It’s also why collectors, dealers and designers worldwide choose to buy here.”
