As the first dedicated rare book auction house in the Southeastern United States, Addison & Sarova Auctioneer's is one of few auction houses worldwide dedicated exclusively to the sale of rare and antiquarian books, manuscripts, and maps. Beginning as an antiquarian book dealer in the 1990s, Michael Addison broadened his knowledge of the rare book market and auction market. As an auction house dedicated only to rare books, we do one thing and we do it well. Addison & Sarova recently conducted one the largest book auctions of the last 50 years when Pulitzer Prize winning author (Lonesome Dove) and Academy Award winning screen writer (Brokeback Mountain) Larry McMurtry consigned 300,000 books to be sold in the sale entitled "The Last Book Sale." This monumental sale made national headlines and affirmed Addison & Sarova as an auction house able to make any auction, big or small, a memorable event. Addison & Sarova combines the hospitality and expertise of the retail environment with the fast pace environment of public auctions. We have a buying audience especially interested in rare books, and bidders may bid on the auction floor, via telephone, absentee bid, or via online bidding. We are also one of the few auction houses who provide live audio and video broadcasts to our online bidders. Owner and principal auctioneer, Michael Addison, is a licensed auctioneer in the states of Georgia and Texas. He holds a BA in English Literature and, more than an auctioneer, Mr. Addison is also an avid collector of rare books and fine art, and he brings the passion of a collector to each sale. As the rare book specialist and the bid-calling auctioneer, he brings his knowledge about each item with him to the auction block Online bids are taken through the online bidding console as bidders from around the world bid online while enjoying the live video and audio broadcast in real-time.
