BOOKS, COINS & STAMPS AUCTION
24th July

Pictured: ARCHITECT'S ARCHIVE. An archive of material from the renowned architect John Douglas (1830-1911)
A fascinating archive of material from the renowned architect John Douglas (1830 – 1911) was one of our highlights from the Books, Coins and Stamps Auction this week.  Examples of interior decorations within the folio could sit comfortably amongst pattern trends of 2024.  The archive sold for £2,100.

The top lot from the books department was the 1613 King James version of the Holy Bible by Robert Barker.  Bidding started at £2,700 online and knocked out commission bidders going on to sell for £4,600 to an online buyer.

The star lot of the day was a 22ct gold commemorative Albert Schweitzer Memorial Medallion 1875-1965.  Measuring approximately 75mm, the medallion sold for over £20,000 (inc BP) to a private collector.

For the stamps, the sale of a Great Britain 1840-1970 collection housed in Davo pre-printed album for £5,000 shows that there are still many keen philatelists out there.
